If perceived in terms of age, then The Split is a baby genius when defined by creativity and musical talent. Blending rock, pop, and punk, The Split delivers songs with familiar power pop chord structures, complimenting leads and hook driven vocal melodies that stick with you throughout the day. Musical influences ranging from U2, The Killers, Tears For Fears, and The Tragically Hip are respectfully apparent in their songs.
In the year they have been a band, The Split has released an EP entitled "Leave A Light On" and performed at top venues and festivals in the Detroit area including: Detroit X Detroit, Detroit Winter Blast, The Metrotimes Blowout, and Arts Beats and Eats Festival. They've released two radio singles: “Say Goodnight” and “Leave a Light On” both being put into rotation on 89X Detroit “The Homeboy Show”, Monroe County Radio, and Cave Radio.
"Leave A Light On" is available on CD Baby, iTunes, and at all shows.
The Split is:
Jason Longuski - Vocal and Guitar
Joe Daksiewicz - Guitar and Vocal
Ron Vensko - Drums and Percussion
Mike Nagy - Bass
"Leave A Light On"
Jason Longuski - Jason has played in the bands Summerwake and Satellites Over Moscow as lead singer and guitarist. He has opened up for national acts such as Everclear and Jonny Lives in New York's own Irving Plaza and again at the Michigan Theatre. Jason opened for other well known acts such as Quiet Drive and These Green Eyes. Notable venues, St. Andrews, The Shelter, The Emerald Theatre, and the Whitney.
Joe Daksiewicz - Joe has performed in many different local acts. Most notably he plays beside JT Harding, who fronts award winning pop group JTX. The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and B.B. King's Blues Club in Manhattan are just two of the many places that Joe has performed. He's shared the stage with acts such as LMFAO, Greenwheel, Ryan Cabrera, The Dirty Heads, Paper Tongues, Wang Chung and more.
Ron Vensko - Ron has played in a variety of music bands. He played in Detroit's powerpop group, The Prime Ministers, Treblehead and Thunderharp Choir. He has toured the midwest clubs and theaters from Toronto, Canada's NXNE to Nashville to Chicago. Ron has shared the stage with musical performers such as Patti Smith, 38 Special, The Dan Band, Bowling for Soup, Lola Ray and more.
Mike Nagy - Mike, a Detroit native, has been performing music for over 10 years. During that span he was the bassist for several bands including the well-known Detroit rock band, Jiva. Mike has played in venues & festivals throughout the Midwest, California and Tennessee. His melodic, in the pocket, grooves can be heard on songs that have aired on Fox, MTV, VH1, NBC, TLC, and Bravo. Nagy fancies Musicman and Lakland basses, especially when they are run through Aguilar or Eden Amps. When he is not taking his bass for a walk, he can often be found in the boxing ring and enjoying his Tequila neat.
