The Story of
The Frank Caswell Band, from the Delta Flat Lands, and home to the MS Blues, comprised of five talented musicians who have been playing an array of genres in multiple groups for many years now. They wanted to form a band that would represent their originality and unique style. In 2012 this is exactly what they did. The Frank Caswell Band has traveled throughout the MS Delta to Memphis, TN entertaining crowds with original music and Country/Rock shows!
Frank Caswell, Lead Vocals/Guitar/Songwriter: Frank was exposed to music very early in life. Being the youngest of four musically talented siblings it was no surprise that Frank, at the age of eight, was playing guitar and singing in church. His true passion is songwriting. As Frank got older, he was very influenced by and began listening to some of the greatest Country and Rock N Roll Legends. Frank soon began writing a very diverse style of music; both Country and Southern Rock. Frank now has written well over a hundred songs. Along with his gift for writing he was blessed with a raw-soulful voice that draws people in like a magnet!
Brian Sherwood, lead guitar: Brian is a multi-talented musician. He plays many musical instruments and is also a very driven and talented singer/songwriter. Brian was only five years old when he started playing drums in church. By the time he was seven he was already taking road trips and traveling with bands to perform. As Brian got older, he moved around a lot playing his music which gave him opportunities to perform alongside many great musicians. Brian was influenced by his family's passion for music.
Chris Black, drummer: Chris began playing drums as a teenager in the high school marching band. Chris also had a desire to learn other aspects of music such as the engineering and sound side of the business. As he became older he spent a lot of time learning the ropes of becoming an experienced, sound engineer. Now days, if Chris is not on stage with The Frank Caswell Band, you may see him running sound for such artist as Jake & The Pearl Street Jumpers, B.B. King, Bobby Rush, and The Mississippi Mass Choir. Chris lays down smooth beats, with an in-the-pocket groove the band loves! His expertise with sound has been a huge asset to the band.
James (Ed) Wilkerson, Jr, Bassist: James grew up surrounded by a strong love for music. James was only three years old when he could be found singing alongside his sister at church. He began playing bass at the young age of nine. He is also very diverse and can play several music instruments. His high school years were spent in the marching band as a percussionist. He also has his very own style of blues while playing the guitar. James is a very dedicated and passionate about his music, and this has been proven by in his performances.
Donald Grant, Keyboard Player: Donald was born and raised in Shelby, MS. Donald has been in the music business for 35 years. During this time, he has had the opportunity to perform on stage with various gospel and secular recording artists, such as: The Williams Brothers, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Canton Spirituals, Alphonso "Doc" Walker (singer, songwriter, producer and former keyboard player for R&B artist R. Kelly), Ed Townsend (co-writer and producer for the album "Let's Get It On"), and David Townsend (former member of the group Surface).Donald has been a great asset with the quality of music and his unique style and finesse.
