I grew up on a riverboat, and was raised along the Indiana shore, spending weekends on the islands with other boaters. Many of the boaters including my Mother would bring out their guitars, banjos, saxophones', spoons, some playing whatever they could come up with, and start jamming around the campfire. I listened to them playing the old country music, Hank Williams, Willy and Waylon, Patsy Cline, so many of the older tunes like Green green grass of Home, Your Cheatin Heart, Rolling on the River, Country Roads, any songs that people knew so everyone could sing along.
We made our own entertainment, and when we weren't gathered around the fire, we were cruising down the Ohio on the top deck listening to tunes like Goovin.....Soul Man......Heard it thru the Grapevine, all of these tunes bring back so many memories.... When I was around 10 I began playing the guitar. I used books that my Mother had, and borrowed my sisters' guitar and her learning books.
Growing up in the 70's was quite the adventure, and by the age of 13 or 14 I began writing songs. I got into smoking some herb, and other drugs like so many others in this decade, and everywhere I went I took the guitar with me, including school. Many of us would hang out in the smoking area and jam thru many unattended classes!
I guess you could say I was a hippy, hitchhiked to several places, a whole lot of partying, and playing music. Sometimes more partying than music, but I think you get the picture.
I fell in love and had my Son at an early age, went thru a lot of heart break and grew up way too fast. Music was always with me, maybe not in the magnitude I intended, however, sitting down playing that guitar, writing tunes, or just playing all night.... saved me thru many rough times.
Thru life experiences I wrote songs of laughter, love, heart break, fear, drug addiction, and then on to lighter lifting tunes. I have played several solo gigs, weddings, etc., and enjoy playing and singing a variety of music including my own.
I remarried and had a beautiful Daughter also. Now my life is different and I've slowed down a lot. I managed to live thru some crazy times and feel so blessed that I'm able to share my life and my music with family and friends.
I have time to play more now and will be posting some new tunes to this site.
Thanks for your interest in my music!
