If you flew Delta international during May or June you may have heard "Dandelion" on the in-flight music service!
Harbor Beach MI native and Nashville recording artist Nathan Schock’s music reflects his Michigan heritage as well as the influences of Nashville where he spent 10 years working as a recording engineer, musician and solo artist. Some describe his music as “country/rock with a Midwestern blue collar attitude with a touch of Michigan summertime rock and roll.” Nathan himself says “I write and sing socially conscious, summer time, campfire, electric folk music. Some people like to characterize it as country/rock/pop; but, I think my audience is more sophisticated than that. When you listen, you will hear agricultural rock and roll that leans hard on the grooves of old southern American soul music.”
Nathan has been described by a music industry veteran as a "renaissance man", his multiple talents as a guitar player, singer, producer and writer gained the attention of Nashville ’s Music Row. As a studio pro he provided his services to folks like Garth Brooks , Ryan Adams, Sara Evans, Rascal Flatts, Chris Young and Sugarland. In addition to studio work Nathan paid his dues touring the country playing for thousands both live and on the radio. His experiences are reflected in his approach to song writing and performing. “I have been a student of both the artistic and business aspects of music, and I am always careful to walk a fine line. I don’t want to put out songs that fit some 'market.' I've seen too many people lose their creative compass by trying to satisfy a marketing strategy.” If you give me your attention and time, I owe you my honest connection to the real music I have in me".
Nathan's musical textures continue to grow and mature. His 2009 CD "A Broad Margin of Leisure" is a big, wide production that nods to the great rock and roll of the 1970’s and reveals an artist hitting his stride as a writer, guitar player, and studio professional. Every listen reveals a well-placed layer of instrumentation and lyrics that stay with you.
