At the age of 43, a christian, father, husband, business owner, and musician, the passion for music continues on. Matt has been playing music since the age of 8, both professionally and casually. Matt has lived in beautiful Lake of the Ozarks MO. since 1980, but currently resides in Henderson NV with Wife Cayce and two children, Jack(7) and Sarah(4).
Matt holds a B.S. in Ed from MSU and graduated in 1994. Since that time he has played London to the Caribbean. Country Western to Classical. Jazz/Smooth Jazz to Rock and Roll. Jazz has been his favorite style of music to play and listen to since college. For him, his love for ALL styles of music has kept him working musically throughout his life. Contemporary Christian, Country, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Orchestral, etc... Playing for John Davidson, The Diamonds, The Platters, even Yakov Smirnoff!, to teaching privately, and studying with jazz drum greats Harvey Mason of “Fourplay” and famous clinician “Ed Soph”. He’s also had the privilege to work with many contemporary Christian artists such as “Mercy Me” and “Jars of Clay” just to name a couple. Matt has also done studio work with L.A. recording engineer Al Phillips who has recorded artists such as Reba McEntire, Grover Washington Jr, and Smokey Robinson, to name a few.
Traveling to London to Play for The Lord Mayor of Westminster, sitting in with famous jazz trumpeter Clark Terry and working on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Int’l as a show drummer has been just a few highlights for Matt. His most current music endeavors have been playing with “Jake Simpson”, former two time Star Search champion, and working on his own original compositions.
Playing drums, piano, and keyboards has always been a passion, and feels very fortunate to still be playing music. He gives credit for his overall music inspiration to his deceased Father who got him started at the early age of 8 playing drums, and piano teacher Elaine Wilson at age 12. Ultimately, Matt gives ALL thanks to Jesus Christ, his Lord in Savior.
