Des Moines, Iowa’s Love Songs For Lonely Monsters (LS4LM or Love Songs for short) have been wrapping deep, umbral guitars and zealous pulsating rhythms with the celestial vocals of the ever-enchanting Amy Badger since forming in late 2009. Upon inspection, it is possible for the listener to peel back the layers of Fugazi and Gang of Four-inspired post-punk aggression to find a heart within the madness; a soul purposefully melodic, maintaining a phenomenal pop sensibility.

Since their inception, Love Songs for Lonely Monsters has honed their craft and cemented themselves as one of the best live acts in the midwest, opening for such acts as Bob Mould, Deerhoof, and Purity Ring. In 2012, they were honored by winning Iowa Public Radio’s Play-In contest for the 80/35 Music Festival, and as such, played the main stage alongside -- among others -- Fucked Up, Dinosaur Jr, and Death Cab for Cutie. They have completed their first LP and are currently booking shows in and around the Midwest in support.

"Parks’s elaborate compositions are dirty and full of noise, gliding over the a rhythm section that gives no quarter, and far from falling victim to a club’s sketchy PA, the vocals have never been clearer. This album demands repeated spins, and given how damn good all of these songs are, that is hardly a chore."

"The album succeeds. It showcases everything LS4LM is and can be in one tight package. The production work does wonders for Amy Badger’s one-of-a-kind vocals yet still brings attention to the genius instrumentals. They manage to mix pure rock, pop-rock, prog rock, grunge and 90’s riot grrl angst into a single presentation...This album shows one of Iowa’s best in their best possible light."

"They were, actually, something of a revelation for me. I came in expecting nothing and was completely floored by the end of their set...The band was cohesive and dynamic, but lead singer in Amy Badger stole the show. She’s got stage presence for days and a voice to match."

" in tune with each others movements and actions, yet at times it had the right level of garage de-synchronization that it felt a little more spontaneous and well anarchist."
