Biography

Born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan! (Royal Oak, to be exact).

Singer/Songwriter and Lead Vocalist of Oak City Roots.

Having fallen in love with music at a young age, it only made sense to continue down that path...

"Life's ups and downs help create all of the emotion behind my lyrics and vocals. Music happens to be the perfect outlet."

Kate Jablonski and Oak City Roots began playing, writing and recording together in May 2013. They released their debut, self-titled album , in December 2015, receiving much praise, airplay and support from fans, both old and new! Kate is currently working on writing and recording her first solo EP, anticipated to be released late 2016. Oak City Roots is also beginning to record demos for album #2..

AND, Enjoy!

For a bit more of the story....

"I always had the vision of moving off to a big city as soon as I turned 18 to pursue my singing dreams... However, I chose to give university life a try (Go Chips!), made a change to Cosmetology school (Go Aveda!) and have been working in the Beauty Industry since 2005. Ahh, creativity! Still not music.

Constantly lingering in the back of my mind, 'what if I had?'

Once 2007 arrived, it was time to get out there and do something about it. This is when Trick9 was born (thank you Craigslist). An original rock band from Detroit, MI. I took on lead vocals, backed by a powerful electric band. We played gigs around the area, from Detroit to Berkley, Hamtramck, Pontiac, etc. The group split up after a couple years of playing together, but my love for music and singing remained steady.

The next few years were filled with relationships, job changes, traveling and eventually moving (to Mexico of all places). All bringing me back to the same place.. not to mention some new lyrics to go with! Once again, it was time to get back out there.

Acoustic seemed more appealing this round. Do I go solo? Start a group?

March 2013, In came Sean Dunlop and Sean Nasrey... What began as a small jam session with the intention of helping me record a few songs, quickly turned into an acoustic gig with a great turnout and awesome feedback. So, it was natural to want to continue making music together and perform more live shows.

As of May 2014, we added a fourth member, Dan Steffy, to round out our sound. Acoustic guitar, percussion, bass and vocals... A group dynamic that can surely hold its own! The singer/songwriter within has come to life again, and it's better than ever. Performing original music and covers, straight from the heart.... all carrying an original, captivating twist."
