Biography

An emcee ever in pursuit of perfection, Justin Washington ( J Wash Da Don) is preparing his introduction to Hip Hop world with the EP, Let It Go!. With tracks that evoke emotion and engage the imagination, the album promises to put this Mississippi native’s development on full display.

It was while in high school that J Wash Da Don first discovered a love for rhyming, which in turn became his motivation for mastering the craft. From that point, he began to view the artists he idolized as teachers whose skills would ultimately influence his own style. The aspiring artist recounted, “During my junior year I decided I was going to make music my career. Shortly after that I started studying the catalogues of Nas and B.I.G. among others, who used metaphors and similes to lace their lyrics with double meanings. They inspired me to incorporate that kind of play on words into my rhymes and it’s been a staple of mine ever since.”

J Wash Da Don showcases his hallmark in the song “Life”, featured on the Let It Go. EP. Along with advertising his clever calling card each bar captures J Wash Da Don’s passion for this method of expression. “I’m making the statement that I want to get the most out of my abilities having an understanding of what’s at stake for me every time I rhyme,” he explains.

Also found on J Wash Da Don’s upcoming EP, at the other end of the musical spectrum, is the narrative, “Let It Go.” The song is mixed with pop star “Passenger” with an uplifting appeal and explores the challenges that all-too-often arise trying to maintain a balance between both personal and spiritual commitments. In particular, it illustrates the sacrifices that confront many entertainers when their private lives come in conflict with their livlihood, catching career ambitions and intimate relationships in the crossfire. The overlying theme, however, is one universally common to those who have struggled to hang onto what’s most important chasing a dream worthwhile.

With his debut on the horizon, J Wash Da Don is poised to make his mark in music, backed by a unique style of delivery, potent puns, and intriguing insight. A smooth sound and strong vocal presence on the EP further enhance his chances of leaving a lasting impression on both industry insiders and hip-hop fans alike. The sky truly is the limit for this lyricist laying a foundation for success on his way to heavenly heights, where words become pictures painted by a ‘Picasso of Prose’
