I was born in northcentral Ohio and raised in a trailer park on the outskirts of a one-stop-light town, thirty minutes south of Lake Erie. I started singing in Pentecostal churches as soon as I could hold a microphone, and in bars as soon as they'd let me.

My mother sold the trailer and moved us to Nashville my Freshman year, where I worked under contract (as a staff-writer) for a few publishers over the course of the following seven years. Disenchanted with the cookie-cutter mentality of Music Row, I left Nashville in the late nineties to start a family (and find myself). Got a GED, went to college for Political Science, and left college to cut a record called Hollow Bones in Monotone in 2007.

The years since have been the best of my life, both musically and personally. I've shared my songs and stories with some amazing people across the eastern US, and have shared stages and studios with artists like: Garth Hudson (the Band), Tommy Ramone (the Ramones), Larry Campbell (Bob Dylan, the Black Crowes), Chris Hillman (the Byrds), Jimmy Webb, Radney Foster, Darrell Scott, Junior Brown, the Wood Brothers, Justin Guip (Levon Helm, Hot Tuna), Jonathan Edwards, the Womack Family Band, David Amram, Peter Case, David Wax Museum, Jim White, the everybodyfields, Amy Speace, Richard Shindell, Jeff Black and Will Kimbrough.

I've been blessed with a beautiful family and a Top 10 record on multiple Americana radio charts. And I've no idea what's next. But I'm certain it involves a nose to the grindstone and some bootstraps.
