Call Marvin is based out of Detroit, a city with rich musical and artistic traditions. In fact, the band’s name Call Marvin is derived from the Michigan Unemployment Agency entitled “MARVIN”. The spirit of Detroit resounds in Call Marvin’s music both in live performance and studio recordings. Stimulating the imagination through music and lyrics is Call Marvin’s primary objective. This is achieved through the melting pot of influences revealed through a unique brand of new-wave and reggae music.
Throughout their existence, Call Marvin has had the pleasure of playing several high profile shows, including Ford’s Arts, Beats, and Eats since 2010, Stars and Stripes Festival, performing with new-wave legends The English Beat (Shout! Factory) and Passafire (Easy Star Records) numerous times at big venues including The Crofoot, Pike Room, and Royal Oak Music Theatre.
Call Marvin has just released their first EP album entitled The Opinion Of Sheep. The album was recorded at The Tempermill Studio in Ferndale, MI with engineer Erik Maluchnik. The album contains three compositions including the single “Waiting For The Aliens”, “This Game”, and “What I’d Say To You”. Songwriting content for this album ranges from isolation to extraterrestrials. To say that Call Marvin is excited about this release is an understatement. Call Marvin would like to invite you aboard this musical journey. Call who? Call Marvin.
