Bill performs regularly as a solo artist, as a duo and in two bands, Revolver and The Ghosts of Electricity.
He is also President of Paradiddle Records.
In 2006 Bill started Paradiddle Records, an independent record label in Huntington, NY. The label’s first release, Bob Dylan Uncovered, received critical acclaim throughout the world, garnered international airplay and impressive sales numbers. Over a dozen releases have followed including Kinks UnKovered, Live in Peace by Russ Seeger, a former band mate of Levon Helm, as well as several releases by local artists. Most recently they released Trouble in the Fields-An Artists Tribute to Nanci Griffith. Trouble in the Fields was called “a high water mark for Paradiddle as a true creative force in Americana/Roots.” (Good Times Magazine). With this compilation they expanded from their local roster to include international folk artists like Tom Russell, Jerry Jeff Walker, and The Kennedys. Contributions by renowned songwriters Julie Gold and the late John Stewart help to fill out this wonderful collection.
In 2009 Bill recognized a need for a recording studio on Long Island that was affordable to local musicians. The rates charged by the major Long Island Studios put studio recording out of the financial reach for many musicians. With this in mind he built a 650 square foot recording facility in is home that offers quality, affordable recording to local musicians. Many of the new Paradiddle Projects have been record here.
Paradiddle Records has gained a reputation as “True Champions of Long Island Music” by successfully recording and promoting some of the Long Island’s top talent. Their facility, Paradiddle Studio, has recorded over 100 of Long’s talented musicians.
Bill Herman volunteers his sound engineering skills to two local music series. Live in the Lobby at The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, Suffolk County’s largest theatre, is a series that spotlights some of Long’s best talent. The Sunday Street Acoustic Series showcases nationally touring musicians like Ellis Paul, Willie Nile and Susan Werner.
Bill has done live sound for 100’s of shows and has personally engineered and produced over 30 CDs. He is chief engineer at Paradiddle Studio, owns Paradiddle Sound, a live sound company, as well as serving as President of Paradiddle Records.
