The Barley Brothers Band was formed by Matt Nuccio and Brian Weiss in Forest Hills, Queens (where both the Ramones and Simon and Garfunkel came from) as a weekly excuse to play their guitars and drink beer. Initially they only played acoustic covers. Shortly after they began playing, they started experimenting with improved jams and soundscapes. A few years later their tastes broadened. During this time their experimental songs became more polished and elaborate. By 2012 they were writing original music.
In late 2012 they ditched the covers altogether and decided to go all out with their originals instead. Matt and Brian called up the best musicians they knew and started a full on band. Chris Nuccio, Matt’s cousin, joined The Barley Brothers and made an immediate impact with his vocal range and harmonic abilities. With the addition of Josh Arkin on drums, the music immediately started to come together from his smooth style of play. Shortly after, Adam Egert joined the band bringing with him an eclectic array of talent on guitar, filling a void that has come to make The Barley Brothers the band that they are today. It all came together instantly and they jumped into the studio in 2013.
