Biography

Aron’s influences range from John Bonham to John Zorn, including everything in between and on both sides. Growing up in Minnesota, Aron remembers listening to his dad’s Bob Dylan records and staying up late to hear Prince on the Top 9 at 9. His uncle, a virtuosic lounge pianist, taught him to play classics by Debussy, Gershwin, and Joplin. Aron’s interest in lyrics and songwriting began in high school, inspired by grunge artists like Eddie Vedder.

After studying poetry and protest in college, he served in the Peace Corps in Bolivia. He discovered Radiohead as an expat playing folk songs on the street in Brazil. His journey led him to a small counter-cultural town outside of LA where he currently teaches, performs, and surfs. These days Aron’s vintage record collection threatens to take over the living room, and he enjoys current artists such as The Bad Plus, The Punch Brothers, The Californian, Wilco, and the Decemberists.
