Biography

Alex has played for audiences for over 40 years and has worked with recording artists. As a lead guitarist, he was one of the best, stunning the audiences with blues based polished electric guitar solos.
Alex started playing guitar when he was 16 and progressed slowly until
he began to listen to blues players including Freddy King, Muddy Waters, Alvin Lee, Roy Buchanan and Eric Clapton. From 1969 through 1972 he became sought after lead guitarists in New England area. During that time he had an opportunity to sit in for the famous Paul Butterfield Blues Band when they played in Cambridge MA. He co-found a band called Mantiev ( Viet Nam backwards) which became a very popular band in western Massachusetts.

Alex served in the US Navy from 1972-1975 where he co-founded the Miss Judy’s Blues Band featuring some of the best players in southern Maine. The band was featured on local radio shows and filled clubs along the Maine coast. After the Navy, Alex spent 4 years in college to earn a B.S. in Physics. During that time he played in various bands and spent 2 summers in Nashville playing spots in the Broadway Honky Tonks and landed jobs for short tours with recordeing artisits Scooter Lee and Roy Clayborn. During the late 80's Alex served as a guest guitarist in the famous Boston based James Montgomery Blues Band.

During the 90's, he quit playing for a few years to work as an engineer to support his family. Later he formed the band American Tradition which is still together today (over 25 years but now without Alex) under the name Shut up and Dance.

In recent years, Alex spent time as a sit in guitarist for local bands, performing
solo acoustic gigs and writing songs while in, Ohio, Alabama, Florida and now southern California. His collected experience has provided him with repeat performances by popular demand after venues have heard him for the first time.
He recently releases his 2nd album in July 2015 called " This is What's Going On ".
